오는 11월 12일 국내에서 영화 ‘007 스펙터’가 개봉됨으로써 영국의 첩보원 007인 제임스 본드가 다시 스크린에 등장한다. 이 영화와 더불어 제임스 본드가 선택할 볼랭저 샴페인도 함께 선보일 것이다. ‘007 스펙터’는 조직 범죄, 테러, 과대망상증과 음모의 어두운 세계에서, 또한 럭셔리, 세련미, 유혹과 멋의 세계에서 일어나는 제임스 본드의 24번째 모험이다. 볼랭저 샴페인과 제임스 본드를 자연스럽고도 논리적으로 매칭시키는 것은 바로 후자의 세계, 즉 우아함과 품격이다.
A Natural Pairing: Champagne BOLLINGER and James Bond 007 in Spectre
With the release of ‘Spectre’ on 12 November 2015 in Korea, James Bond, agent 007 of Her Majesty’s Secret Service, returns to the screen. And with him – most probably – also Champagne BOLLINGER, James Bond’s choice of champagne. ‘Sprectre’ is James Bond’s 24th adventure in the sinister world of organized crime, terror, megalomania and conspiracy, but also in the glamorous world of luxury, sophistication, seduction and style. And it is precisely this side of elegance and character that makes Champagne BOLLINGER and James Bond 007 a natural and logical pairing.
오랜 파트너쉽을 유지하고 있는 볼랭저와 제임스 본드는 강한 영국적인 연계성을 가지고 있다. 007 제임스 본드는 영국 정보국 M16의 비밀 요원인데 영국의 기자이자 소설가였던 이안 플레밍(Ian Fleming)이 1953년에 자신의 소설 ‘카지노 로얄’에서 탄생시킨 인물이다. 반면 볼랭저의 샴페인들은 독특한 맛, 전통과 우아함 때문에 샴페인 중에서도 가장 영국적인 것으로 여겨지고 있다. 이러한 영국적인 연관성은 아주 명성이 높은 로얄 워런트(Royal Warrant)에 의해서도 나타나는데, 볼랭저 하우스는 이미 1884년에 로얄 워런트를 수여 받았다. 로얄 워런트는 오늘날까지도 영국의 왕실 조달 허가증을 의미한다.
Both parts of this longstanding pairing have strong British links. James Bond 007 is, of course, a secret agent of the British Secret Service, commonly known as MI6, and was created as a fictional character in 1953 by the British journalist and novelist Ian Fleming. On the other hand the champagnes of Champagne BOLLINGER with their unique taste, tradition and elegance are considered the most British of all champagnes. This very close British connection is also expressed by the highly prestigious Royal Warrant that Champagne BOLLINGER was awarded already in 1884 and which designates official purveyors to the Court until today.

볼랭저 샴페인은 이번 포함 14회에 걸쳐 007 영화에 등장하게 되었다. 이러한 파트너쉽은 1978년에 제임스 본드 영화제작프로듀서인 앨버트 로몰로 브로콜리(Albert R. Broccoli, 별명은 Cubby Broccoli)가 당시 볼랭저의 General Manager이었던 크리스티안 비조(Christian Bizot)와 만나면서 시작되었다. 이것이 브로콜리 집안과 볼랭저 집안의 영원한 우정의 시작이었다. 1979년의 영화 ‘문레이커(Moonraker)에서부터 볼랭저 하우스의 샴페인들이 007 영화에서 제임스 본드의 샴페인이 되었다. 리스트는 아래 참고.
A Family Affair…
Champagne BOLLINGER has been featured in 14 James Bond films so far. This partnership started for real in 1978 when Albert R. “Cubby” Broccoli, the James Bond film producer, met Christian Bizot, General Manager of Champagne BOLLINGER at the time. This was the start to an everlasting friendship between the Broccoli family and the Bollinger family. Since the film Moonraker in 1979 champagnes from Champagne BOLLINGER have been James Bond’s champagnes in the film, cf. table below.

그리고 신사의 협정
흥미로운 것은 브로콜리 가족과 볼랭저 가족 사이의 약속인 007 영화에서 볼랭저 하우스의 샴페인 하나를 선보이게 하는 것이 문서상의 계약에 의해 이루어진 것이 아니라는 사실이다. 신뢰와 우정에 바탕을 둔 그야말로 신사의 협정이지 많은 변호사들에 의해 협상된 PPL 광고가 아니다. 이러한 특별한 합의는 ‘스펙터’와 같은 007 영화에서 볼랭저의 샴페인이 실제로 등장할 것이라는 확신을 할 수 없다는 것을 의미하기도 한다. 볼랭저의 CEO인 제롬 필리퐁(Jérôme Philipon)에 따르면 ‘스펙터’의 제작자에게 2박스의 볼랭저 R. D. 2002를 보냈지만, 이 영화에서 그 중의 한 병이 실제로 등장하게 될지는 모르고, 시사회에서 알 수 있을 것이라고 한다. 이제 기다려 보자. 11월 12일이면 알 수 있을 테니!
….and a Gentlemen’s Agreement
Interestingly enough the partnership between the Broccoli and Bollinger families to display a bottle of champagne of Champagne BOLLINGER in a James Bond film has never been formalised in a written agreement. It is a real Gentlemen’s agreement based on trust and friendship and not ordinary product placement negotiated by an army of lawyers. This very special agreement also means that Champagne BOLLINGER cannot be sure that one of their bottles will appear in one way or the other in a James Bond film like S°P°E°C°T°R°E. According to Jérôme Philipon, Président du Directoire of Champagne BOLLINGER, the production company of Spectre has been provided with two cases of BOLLINGER R. D. 2002. He does not know if one of these bottles will appear in S°P°E°C°T°R°E, but only learn about it during the release of the film. This is yet to be seen. So let us wait and see on 12 November 2015!
